Reuben Oates is a proud Trawlwoolway artist of the North East of Tasmania, born and raised on Melukerdee Country in the Huon Valley. His work is rooted in cultural storytelling, connection to Country, and a deep responsibility to represent and protect Aboriginal culture through art.

Reuben is a member of the Aboriginal Art Association of Australia (AAAA), a national organisation that supports ethical practice and cultural integrity in the Aboriginal art sector. His membership reflects his commitment to authenticity, community accountability, and the respectful continuation of Aboriginal traditions in contemporary art.
